You will require the following to use this package:
Currently Solaris is the only operating system supported by these utilities.
Versions of Solaris prior to 2.6 are not supported due to a bug in read-only loopback mounts (i.e. lofs(7FS)) not being read-only prior to Solaris 2.6. This bug only affects chroot-install.
The exception to this is proj-template which is not specific to any Unix varient.
You will require at least version 5.005_02 to run these utilities. Earlier versions may work, but the earliest version tested is 5.005_02.
It is recommended that you have the Digest::MD5 module available so that chroot-install can easily generate checksums of files. If Digest::MD5 is not available then chroot-install will use /usr/bin/cksum instead.
Naturally running an external command causes some overhead and so it is recommended that you have Digest::MD5 available.
This perl module is available from CPAN. See http://search.cpan.org/search?dist=Digest-MD5 for details.
The availablity of this package is checked for when the package for pkg-tools is built and when the package is pkgadded to a system.
The Makefile target pkg-check will also perform this check for you.
It is also recommended that you have root access on the machine used.
Whilst you can use build-pkg to build packages without having root privilages (see the build-pkg(1) manual page for details), you can not pkgadd the package without root privilages.
The exception to this is proj-template which does not require any root privilages to be effective.
